Nosara works well for families because the town itself sets the pace — a wide, walkable beach, warm water, and a surf scene relaxed enough for a first lesson at any age. Sendero Hotel & Villas is the property built around exactly that: multi-bedroom villas with full kitchens, a pool, and enough space for a family to spread out rather than share one room, a short walk from Guiones Beach.
Kids’ surf lessons are easy to arrange, and the beach itself is safe enough for younger swimmers on calmer days. Between sessions, the town has enough going on to fill an afternoon: a Saturday farmers market, ice cream and smoothie spots along the main road, and short drives to waterfalls and wildlife reserves that work for a range of ages. Howler monkeys are common enough that spotting one from a hotel balcony isn’t unusual.
We’d typically book a villa over a standard room for a family of four or more, and plan on five nights minimum — Nosara’s roads are unpaved and the pace is slow, so it rewards settling in rather than rushing through.
