Unforgettable

Corcovado Travel Family

The Osa Peninsula is a real commitment for a family trip — it’s the most remote, biodiverse corner of Costa Rica, reached by a small domestic flight into Puerto Jimenez followed by a drive along dirt roads — but Lapa Rios Eco Lodge is built for exactly this kind of adventurous family. The bungalows sit inside a private rainforest reserve bordering Corcovado National Park, each one open-air with screened walls so you fall asleep to the actual sounds of the jungle, and the lodge runs its own naturalist-guided hikes suited to different ages.

Days here center on guided activities rather than a pool: rainforest hikes with a resident naturalist who points out monkeys, scarlet macaws, and the occasional tapir, a swim at the lodge’s own waterfall, and (for older kids) a day trip into Corcovado National Park itself, widely considered the most biodiverse park in the country. It’s a hands-on, unplugged few days rather than a resort stay.

Three nights is the standard length here, and it’s best positioned as one stop within a longer Costa Rica itinerary rather than the whole trip, given the travel time to reach it.
