Arenal is one of the easiest family destinations in Costa Rica to build a trip around, and The Springs Resort & Spa is built specifically for that: 18 different thermal mineral pools of varying temperatures scattered across a hillside with a direct view of the volcano, plus its own wildlife sanctuary on-site where kids can see rescued sloths, big cats, and monkeys without leaving the property.

Families here spend most of a day simply moving between pools — there’s enough variety that even a full day doesn’t feel repetitive — and the wildlife refuge tour is usually the other highlight. Beyond the resort, the La Fortuna Waterfall and a family-friendly hanging bridges walk through the rainforest canopy are both short drives away and manageable for most ages.

Three to four nights works well here, giving enough time to enjoy the pools without rushing, plus a day or two for outside excursions.
