Indulge in a Serene Wellness Destination

Nosara Wellness

Nosara sits on the Nicoya Peninsula, one of the few places in the world officially studied as a Blue Zone for longevity, and it shows in how the town runs. Guiones Beach is the center of it: a long stretch of sand backed by tide pools, with a lineup gentle enough for morning yoga and a swim before breakfast. Most of the roads are still unpaved by choice, part of a zoning rule that’s kept high-rises and big resorts out.

The Harmony Hotel, right on Guiones Beach, is the property most associated with this side of Nosara — its own yoga studio runs multiple classes a day, and the design leans toward quiet and understated rather than flashy. Beyond it, the wellness scene is the actual local economy: several retreat centers running week-long programs, farm-to-table restaurants sourcing from nearby organic farms, and practitioners offering everything from Pilates to sound baths. Ostional Wildlife Refuge, twenty minutes north, hosts mass olive ridley turtle nestings (arribadas) most months of the year, which we can build into a stay if the timing lines up.

We’d typically pair a few nights at the Harmony or a similar boutique property with a private yoga instructor, one or two spa treatments, and enough open schedule to actually slow down. Nosara rewards four nights or more; it works less well as a one-night stop.
