Santa Teresa Wellness

Santa Teresa has grown into one of the more established wellness towns on the Nicoya Peninsula, with a beach break good enough that surfing and yoga are treated as equally serious pursuits. Hotel Nantipa sits right on the sand and built its own identity around that overlap — an on-site restaurant leaning into fresh, local ingredients, bungalow-style rooms designed for slowing down, and yoga sessions run out of an open-air space steps from the water.

The wellness options extend well past the hotel itself: several dedicated yoga and retreat centers around town, holistic treatment providers, and a strong enough health-food scene that finding a proper smoothie or acai bowl is never a problem. Sunset here is a daily ritual — most restaurants and bars orient their seating toward the water for exactly that reason.

We’d usually pair a stay at Nantipa with a private yoga or surf instructor and one or two spa treatments, and recommend four nights or more — Santa Teresa’s unpaved roads and laid-back rhythm make it a poor fit for a rushed one-night stop.
