Welcome to Uvita!
Uvita is described by many as the most biodiverse area in the world. It is located in the southwest of Costa Rica and has beautiful beaches and dreamlike landscapes. Among all the wonderful beaches that are found in this area, Playa Uvita is by far within the most spectacular beaches of Costa Rica’s southern pacific coast. It is located in the province of Puntarenas, no more than 16 km from Playa Dominical, one of the most visited surfing spots in the country.
Uvita Beach is within the Marino Ballena National Park that is located south of San José and the best way to get to Uvita Beach from the capital is to fly to Palomar Sur Airport and then drive or take an exclusive transfer to Uvita beach.
Uvita is also a small and nestled town. Its main attraction is the Marina Ballena National Park, a marine reserve that is famous for its migrating pods of humpback whales. Recognizable about this park is a 1 km sand bar that reminds of the shape of a whale tail, a result of converging currents. Uvita is perfect for travelers that are looking for an off-the beaten path holiday as not many tourists are frequenting Uvita´s beaches and the small village gives you a good possibility to involve with locals. Don’t miss a visit to the nearby waterfalls Cascada Verde and the Catarata Pavon which are great for swimming in the crystal clear waters!
